You’re engaged ~ Now what?

October 27, 2009

Start at the beginning! You’ve said YES and the next most important words you will say will be I DO. It would seem the logical place to begin is with your ceremony because without the ceremony there is no reason to party. So there are a few questions you might want to ask yourself before you start dreaming about your wedding.

1. What do you see when you walk into the ceremony? Is it in your family church? Is it in a chapel in the woods? Is it in the middle of a field? Under a canopy? At a golf course? Where you met? Everyone has a vision about what their ceremony will look like. Once you convey your thoughts to Dream Weddings, we will discover your vision and create it for you.

2. Are there portions of the wedding that will reflect your style and others that will reflect your fiance’s style?

3. Do you have religious or family traditions that you might want to consider?

4. Is there a certain season or time of day that is important to both of you?

5. Do you think you might want your wedding to be traditional, contemporary, or perhaps a combination of the two?

6. Is there someone special who you would like to perform the ceremony? I’ve seen parents perform the ceremony for either their daughter or their son – how beautiful and heartwarming!

7. Are there any particular family situations that will need to be considered?

Now let your imagination go and start dreaming…

What happens next?

If you want to plan your own wedding you certainly can do so. With all the internet assistance and print advertising it should not be too difficult to do so.

Just a thought, however – if your car was really acting strange and all those wonderful dashboard lights were popping off and on, would you not seek the assistance of a professional? It would be the same circumstance if you were learing a new computer program or trying to set up a network, or going to trial for that nasty speeding ticket, or even getting a haircut! I would never even consider cutting my hair and expecting it to be the most beautiful cut I had ever had – I seek out those who do these things on a regular basis.

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life (without a chance to do it over again!), and to try to go it alone is asking for stress, stress, and more stress! Give it some thought and include a wedding planner in your budget. We can help you at any point down the line from the very beginning, step in after you’ve already done a few things, or even come in at the last minute to implement your plans so that you and your family can enjoy every minute!

Early congratulations to anyone getting engaged over TX/OU weekend – it’s going to be a beautiful weekend.
